Live At The St James – Another Op’nin’, Another Show!

A super second show at the St. James – and a wonderful house to play to! Having opened January’s show with a tribute to Irving Berlin, we now turned our attention to Cole Porter, and for the act one finale premiered our brand new mash-up medley – ‘The Entire Score of West Side Story In Under 8 Minutes’.

After our January show we received a number of requests from people who asked if next time we could perform our ‘33 Sondheim Numbers In 5 Minutes’. It was therefore a delight to revisit the medley at the St James for the first time since we premiered the number at Drury Lane last year in the Sondheim Gala Hey, Old Friends!

A unique aspect of this show was the presence of Indonesian pianist Elwin Hendrijanto, whom we managed to catch in London while he was in town for literally just two days! Elwin made a guest appearance playing ‘Hooked On Classics’ with Dominic, a favourite number from their Piano Brothers show, surprising our audience by climbing up on stage from the darkened Studio Floor!

It was great to see such a diverse age range represented in the audience, and particularly wonderful to welcome the iconic Peggy Cummins, star of Hollywood’s Golden Era of the 1940s, who attended the show with her family. Lovely to see you all!
